Announcing the Lamoka-Waneta LA sponsored Yard Sales
Earlier in the past decade the Association sponsored some lakes-wide yardsale weekends. They were enjoyable, but had a problem. How, if you were to have a sale yourself, could you get out and shop and enjoy contact with all the other sellers? This summer we will have solved the problem, and hopefully will begin a new tradition.
There will be two “yard-sale weekends.” The first will be the Lamoka sell, Waneta shop weekend. One week later will be the Waneta sell, Lamoka shop weekend. This way each cottage owner will have a full opportunity to participate. The other intended benefit is that we probably tended to shop our own lake before, and now we will have reason to explore the other lake's shoreline and backroads, and to meet the residents of the “other” lake.
It will be an exciting new way of extending ourselves to others and building community. The sales are scheduled for the last two weekends in July. Lamoka's sale will be July 23-24, 2011, and Waneta's will be July 30-31, 2011.
We will use the website, newsletter, and meeting in May to publicize the sale weekends to the broadest possible audience. Begin now, cleaning out the attic, basement and garage so that you'll be ready to “rid” yourselves of the greatest number of “treasures” for your neighbors to enjoy. Hopefully friendships will be established and the tradition can continue. Spring is coming.
